Arnold Newman, one of the early giants of environmental portraiture, was an early influence on Bill Burlingham’s work. Newman had an incredible ability to weave personalities and environments into a single evocative composition and ignited Bill’s passion to achieve the same perfection and beauty in his own work. The combination of serendipity and skill make environmental portrait photography a truly improvisational experience. Succeeding in that creative challenge is among Bill’s greatest pleasures.
